Modifying the Availability Mode for Secondary AGS Replicas

Modifying the availability mode for a secondary replica.


How to modify the availabilty mode for a secondary replica of an availability group that is managed by DxEnterprise using DxAdmin or DxCli.

NOTE: Only secondary replicas with an availability mode of synchronous_commit or asychronous_commit are allowed to be modified.


Modify the availability mode using DxAdmin.

  1. Connect to the cluster using DxAdmin.
  2. Select the availability group under a Vhost to bring up the AGS details pane.
  3. Double-click on the availability mode for a secondary replica that you wish to modify.
  4. Select the new availability mode (only sychronous_commit and asychronous_commit are allowed options).
  5. Click “OK” in the confirmation dialogue box.


  1. Open a command prompt or terminal window.
    • On Windows, browse to C:\Program Files\DH2i\bin.
    • On Linux, browse to /opt/dh2i/bin.
  2. Run the following command:
    dxcli set-ags-node-availability-mode <vhost> <ags_name> <replica_name> <availability_mode [synchronous_commit=0 | asynchronous_commit=1]>
    • Parameters:
    Name Type Description Required Command-line Input
    Vhost String The name of the Vhost. True True
    Ags_name String The name of the availability group. True True
    Replica_name String The name of the secondary replica to modify. True True
    Availability_mode Bool The desired availability mode. 0 for synchronous_commit and 1 for asychronous_commit. True True
