Installation Reference for Ubuntu

This guide is command reference for installing DxEnterprise and its dependencies on Ubuntu. For a more detailed installation guide, view the Installation Quick Start Guide for Ubuntu.

Install Dependencies and Applications

Install updates

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

Set host resolution for all nodes and Vhosts

sudo nano /etc/hosts

Ensure hostname is set and unique

hostname
sudo hostnamectl set-hostname <name>

NOTE: A system restart is required to apply changes.

Download Microsoft package signing key (Ubuntu 16.04)

wget https://packages.microsoft.com/config/ubuntu/16.04/packages-microsoft-prod.deb -O packages-microsoft-prod.deb

Download Microsoft package signing key (Ubuntu 18.04)

wget https://packages.microsoft.com/config/ubuntu/18.04/packages-microsoft-prod.deb -O packages-microsoft-prod.deb

Download Microsoft package signing key (Ubuntu 20.04)

wget https://packages.microsoft.com/config/ubuntu/20.04/packages-microsoft-prod.deb -O packages-microsoft-prod.deb

Add Microsoft package repository and Install .NET Core

sudo dpkg -i packages-microsoft-prod.deb
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install apt-transport-https
sudo apt-get update
apt-get install dotnet-runtime-3.1

Install remaining dependencies

sudo apt-get install udisks2 zip

Download the DxEnterprise package signing key

wget -qO- https://repos.dh2i.com/public.gpg | sudo gpg --dearmor -o /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d/dh2i.gpg

Register the Ubuntu repository for DxEnterprise

sudo sh -c 'echo deb [arch=amd64] https://repos.dh2i.com/ bionic retail >/etc/apt/sources.list.d/dh2i.list'

NOTE: The architecture parameter [arch=amd64] can be changed to arm64 or armhf to install DxEnterprise on those platforms.

Update the package list and install DxEnterprise

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install -y dxenterprise

Configure DxEnterprise

Activate server license

sudo dxcli activate-server AAAA-BBBB-CCCC-DDDD

Set cluster passkey (first node installation)

sudo dxcli cluster-set-secret

Set One-Time PassKey (first node installation – requires NAT features enabled on license)

sudo dxcli set-otpk

Join existing cluster

sudo dxcli join-cluster
