DxEnterprise v20 Is Here: Delivering Enhanced SQL Server HA & DR for Improved Business Continuity

DH2i is thrilled to announce the launch of DxEnterprise (DxE) version 20 (v20), aimed to optimize SQL Server high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) for greater business resilience, security and scalability across the cloud, on-premises sites and remote locations.

Microsoft SQL Server is one of the most popular databases to date, bringing new capabilities and features to every version release to continuously meet the needs of its customers. Many organizations have turned to SQL Server deployments in the cloud to take advantage of the scalability and performance that it offers; however, these cloud-based SQL Server users were now looking for a simple-to-use cloud solution that could improve database transaction processing. More specifically, users were in search of a solution that enables them to utilize both SQL Server’s HA and DR capabilities for local HA and remote data protection for enhanced business resilience.

In a typical Linux-based SQL Server HA/DR environment, users were forced to turn to a Pacemaker-based solution that requires separate clusters for HA SQL Server instances and Availability Groups (AGs) while relying on VPNs for DR or rely on a solution that combines HA SQL Server instances with some other data replication technology and VPNs for DR. These solutions are:

  • Complex and brittle to implement and maintain
  • Failing to meet organizations’ RTO/RPO requirements
  • Difficult to scale
  • Unreliable and lead to VPN security exposures
  • Financial unsustainable

Without DxEnterprise v20:

DxE v20 is purpose-built to deliver the resilience, security and scalability capabilities necessary to address these HA/DR challenges that exist in today’s fragile world.  DxE v20:

  • Simplifies and standardizes HA & DR by combining failover instances for local HA and AGs for DR in a single DxE cluster with the use of DxEnterprise Extended Vhosts
  • Delivers scalable end-to-end multi-subnet auto-failover management for near-zero RTO
  • Accelerates SQL Server AG performance with Express Micro-Tunnel technology for 3x RPO improvement
  • Implements patented SDP technology for secure multi-site, multi-cloud network communications that eliminate VPN-associated lateral network attack surfaces
  • Reduces costs by eliminating multiple clustering (WSFC or Pacemaker), replication and VPN technologies while reducing the number of servers and SQL Server licenses needed
  • Offers intelligent health and performance QoS monitoring, alerting and orchestration for easy system management
  • Supports Windows and Linux, Azure and AWS environments for evergreen infrastructure compatibility
