DxHADR extends high availability and disaster recovery for Microsoft SQL Server from any source to any target. Within seconds of a failure, SQL Server instances will automatically be made available at an alternate location while maintaining the exact same application connection string. Full multi-subnet aware stretch clustering provides simple failover without the networking complexity requirement of spanning subnets across locations. DxHADR leverages any 3rd party replication technology (host based and/or SAN based) of the user's choice, as well as any version or edition of SQL Server and OS. There are no requirements to make expensive licensing upgrades or rip and replace your existing infrastructure. It has a quick installation and configuration process that can easily fit within any planned outage window.

Automating DR for a Standalone Instance With DxHADR (00:04:24)

In the event of an outage, SQL Server instances are dynamically re-hosted from your primary site to your alternate site, to the cloud, or across heterogeneous clouds in seconds (rather than hours or days) while maintaining the same client connection string. A single operational model and console ensures seamless coherent management of both your DR site and primary site SQL Server instance workloads. Active policy-based monitoring intelligently automates IT operations to maintain required SLA and QoS contracts for all SQL Server instances, regardless of location. DxHADR works with any third-party host, array, appliance or backup -based replication technology that can replicate SQL Server data from any type of primary server to any type of secondary server located anywhere in the world.

DxHADR allows you to implement multi-site clusters with no geographic limitations or requirement for shared storage. This removes a critical single point of failure and makes it simple to deploy cluster nodes into the cloud or wherever you want. DxHADR eliminates the need for Windows Server Failover Clustering (WSFC). The result is a reliable and efficient HADR solution that enables the failover of SQL Server instances between heterogeneous on-premises and remote infrastructures.

The InstanceMobility® feature of DxHADR enables an application to be dynamically moved [re-hosted] from P2P, P2V, V2P or V2V, in less than 30 seconds, while maintaining the exact same application connection string. This speed makes every SQL Server instance highly available. Individual InstanceMobility allows you to do no-risk instance stacking maximizing server and license utilization. Instead of deploying just one instance per host, you can deploy multiple instances per virtual or physical machine; reducing your total OS and host count.

Under DxHADR, a recovery point objectives (RPO) is limited only by physics and the replication technology used. No limitation on RPO capability is imposed by DxHADR and DxHADR supports synchronous, asynchronous, and snapshot/checkpoint replication technologies. A recovery time objective (RTO) can be less than 30 seconds under DxHADR.

DxHADR has a powerful automation engine to orchestrate the coordinated startup of dependencies in the event of the SQL Server instance failover. The automation engine coordinates storage read/write ability at target for HADR failover; orchestrates startup of SQL Server and dependent applications; enables the development of end to end DR playbook automation.

DxHADR has a powerful resource manager that pro-actively monitors and automates IT processes for all your instances. The resource manager will automatically load balance instances to ensure performance even when in a degraded state. With the resource manager you can also protect every instance with its own independent, portable QoS controls to ensure that availability and performance SLAs are always achieved.

DxHADR makes any SQL Server instance highly available and disaster recoverable. It can be added in-place onto any existing SQL Server host. There is no requirement to upgrade the host OS or SQL Server version or edition. The source and target can be different. They can have different OS versions and/or editions; different SQL Server versions and/or editions; be either physical or virtual; the source and target can be on different subnets, anywhere; DxHADR can use any cloud source and/or target.
